Pope Leo XIV stated that old age is part of God's plan of salvation and that all elderly people are called to be part of that plan. He made these comments in a message he wrote in light of the Church celebrating Grandparents' Day this month. He said that in the Bible, God greatly blessed and favored the lives of the elderly Abraham, Sarah, Zechariah, and Elizabeth and that the elderly should live with hope in God, as hope is the source of profound joy. In God's eyes, old age is a time of grace, and living with faith in God gives strength to the elderly. He also mentioned in his message that the youth should support the elderly, embrace their life experiences wholeheartedly, and follow the path of God.
